Core concepts
Data collections
Data collections are fundamental elements in the Sens platform.
A collection is data that you manage. It can take many forms, from research raw data to art to blog posts.
Create a new data collection
You can create a new data collection here.
It can be:
- Based on an existing template. (Feel free to suggest more templates).
- An import of an existing CSV or Excel file you have.
- A new, empty list that you can customize with whatever data you wish.
Visibility
A collection can be public, unlisted, or private. You can also explicitly add collaborators who are about to see and edit lists even if they are private.
- Public collections are open to the world.
- Unlisted collections are visible to anyone who has the link of the collection, but are not listed on your profile or anywhere else.
- Private collections are only visible to you or collaborators that you have added.
Fields
Fields define what type of data a collection contains. They are like columns in a spreadsheet.
Every entry in your collection can have distinct values for each field you define.
Export or snapshot your data
You can snapshot and/or export your data collection in CSV or SENS formats. You can allow others to download your public or unlisted data collections from a collection page if you set it in its configurations.
Visualize your data
Our platform provides a range of visualization tools to help you understand and communicate your data effectively. You can create charts, graphs, and maps to visualize your data and share your insights with others. Read more here.
Share
There are many ways you can share your collection with the world.
Share link: each collection has a "Share" button which will be your permalink that can be shared with anyone. As long as the list is not private, people with the link can view it. Embed: if you want to embed your collection in another website, you can visit the "Share" tab of your collection to get HTML snippets that you can paste in another website.
